As an avid follower of the case against Jason Allen Kines, it brings me great sadness that he has been acquitted of the major charges that were laid against him. From the time of Venecia Audy’s death in 2006, I have read every article and have become familiarized with the horrifying details of the case. Seeing this from a legal standpoint, one can certainly recognize why major charges such as first degree murder, sexual interference and aggravated sexual assualt, would need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. My question is how could Kines be acquitted after the court and jury had reviewed the admissible evidence that was presented in court? From the testimony of the dental expert who proved that the bite marks on Venecia’s body matched Kines to the testimony of the other doctors who determined at the time Melissa Audy had been charged in the killing, that she could not have inflicted these injuries on the child… If not the mother, who did? What more does a justice and jury need to be able to prove that this man is a monster? This was an under-nourished, severely injured and abused little child. She didn’t deserve this and she was beaten and sexually assaulted to such an extent, it’s absolutely inhuman. Where is the justice to be served in place of this little girl’s life? She is merely a memory now and these monsters have been given minor sentences for all the pain they inflicted on her. It’s a crying shame.
